quick reaction to "A Scanner Darkly"

Okay, I'm exhausted.. don't have the energy for a full analysis, but I caught a screening of "A Scanner Darkly" tonight... thought it was pretty fantastic. Haven't read the Philip K. Dick book, so not quite what I expected (really not a sci-fi film, more of a drug addiction allegory), but really just was enraptured right from the get go, and not just by its obviously stunning visuals.

Some attendees clearly thought it moved a bit slowly at times, but I was never less than fascinated; on a side note, my boy Robert Downey Jr completely steals every scene, and after this and "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang," I can't wait to see him start getting his own movies again. I will absolutely put up a post this weekend where I delve with more depth-- but in the meantime, I'll just say I thought this was a great movie, and I plan on seeing it a few more times.

Tomorrow I'll hopefully check out "You Me and Dupree" and "Pirates 2"... mixed feelings in terms of anticipation on both, but I'll post quick reactions late tomorrow (around 3-4am) and delve more into all three movies this weekend.
